I am against it as well, but these above-mentioned skills do not in any way deter my character from his/her spesialized line, it only improves them. So, as you can see, you and I actually speak the same language, regarding multi-classing. Natural Bond – Spell Cost Decrease (Only Mages)Ībsorbtion – All Magic Damage Absorbed + Mana Added (Instead of Survival – For All) Reinforced Armor – Armor Increase (For All)ĭodge – Basically Physical Damage Resistance divided by 2 (For All)īrilliance – Mana Increase (Only Mages and maybe 1 Melee)Īrcane Fury – Magic Damage Increase (Only Mages) Toughness – Physical Damage Resistance (For All) Benefitting from other categories, frees up space in your kit as well, so that means that nowhere in my kit, I need to have any Resistances, except when it comes with something else that I prefer. So, in effect, the only skills I’d use in other categories, I would call Basic Skills that my characters can benefit from, ONLY if it benefits their respective lines, and not the new category. I only upped him in Debilitation so that he curses double the damage that a normal true-blue Melee fighter would curse. My Melee fighters wont use it, except a little bit I gave my main Melee Fighter, when he is cursing. All those little bits help in the end.īrilliance is for any Mages and you would agree, it boosts mana. 15% in Dodge works out to basically 7,5% in Physical Damage Resistance which again joins up to Toughness, which again benefits my Mage, and not turn him/her into a Melee Fighter. It doesn't make my character an archer, or even close, but helps it inside battles with resistances. Sometimes you just want to let your party wait a bit, equip your Fighter with a 2H weapon and let him lay in some heavy Brutals on some big guys. What I am doing now, is adding some 2H weapon skills to my Shield-Bearer coz I only use him for Provoke and Brutal Attack. :-)Īs soon as I give my Mage something like Barricade, then I’d agree that your messing with Multi-Classing, the way I see it. It's not a skill that enhances their Melee ability, but their overall well-being. All 3 of those can benefit ANY character and doesn't really give the character a Melee background, you know what I mean. Like for instance Fortitude, Toughness and Reinforced Armor. Still, the skillpoints I assign to my characters in other categories, helps with their "well-being". I thought of this genre as boring and complicated but after playing, the bug has bitten me. I'm used to Strategy and First Person Shooters but DS2 bit me. To get to multi-classing, well, its my first RPG I play so I haven't played DS1. That thought has been in the back of my head the whole time but I just like to make it more difficult for my party. I understand the quote on cheating (RE: What is Multi-Classing Really?) and totally agree with you there - it's ok to use it otherwise it wouldn't be there in the first place.
